10 Things
1. Syd wants to try Absinthe, so I’ve been looking up site like this buyers guide and this other guide. Holly wasn’t interested until we told her about the whole pouring it over sugar and lighting it on fire to make it go all milky and stuff. Really, when we told her about the special spoons and glasses as well as lighting things on fire she was sold.
2. New York Governor David Paterson wants Amazon.com to halt all shipments and sales to his state. That will be the logical extension of the idiotic law that New York is about to put before him to sign. It goes like this, if you sell something online to New York, even if you have no operations or employees working there, you have to pay a tax to the state of New York. Seems to me the answer is a big sign on the front of Amazon.com saying “Sorry, can’t ship to New York because your state government thinks it can tax us.” OR “Sorry, all prices 40% higher for New York Residents.” because they not only have to pay this moronic tax, but they have to pay staff to process it too and if you’re going that far you might as well make a little profit as well.
3. Jayce And The Wheeled Warriors is coming to DVD. I always love when they mention in the reviews of old cartoons that J. Michael Straczynski worked on the show. Like the fact that he wrote B5 makes him the greatest writer ever. They never say “J. Michael Straczynski, he of Captain Power and He-Man fame” when discussing him, or mentioning all the other people who worked on the shows. He worked on a lot of shows though, and a lot of the shows he worked on were kid’s shows. If you start to really get into the professional history of most people on TV you’ll find a lot of odd points. John Kricfalusi, he of The Jetsons, Snorks and Pac Man fame, also made a little show called Ren & Stimpy.
4. The history of computer data storage, in pictures. It’s like porn for geeks.
5. Keystone Stereo Views old timey 3-d images.
6. This article about Cuddle Puddles has a lot of shades of Free Love only with a disdain for labels that I’ve noticed the kids have these days. Although since it comes around every 10 to 20 years anyway I’m not as hopeful that everyone will grow up to be cool as I could be.
7. There is going to be a BIG DAMN Millennium Falcon toy coming your way soon! *author cries for the space ship he never had*
8. Along with that is a gallery of WWII Star Wars Action Figures, which seems a little redundant to me. Star Wars IS World War 2… in space. But hey, it looks cool. Also, the same guy made a Steam Punk Star Wars group too.
9. I want to talk about this at more length, but here is a bit about the 25 worst Remakes. What I’ve been thinking is that I would rather see the 25 BEST remakes. Remakes have a bad rep as is, it would be a bigger challange to find 25 that did it right, or made some improvement.
10. Going to bed now. Try not to have your lives fall apart while I’m sleeping, okay?
