I'll come up with something in a minute.

The Great VEWPRF Death March – The Year Without a Santa Claus

1

The Year Without a Santa Claus (1974 Rankin/Bass Productions Dir. Jules Bass & Arthur Rankin Jr.)

Oh goodie, Rankin & Bass! Because that’s always worked out well for us in the past, huh kids? You remember Rudolph? You remember ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas? Yeah, maybe now you know why I hesitate. The thing is, I remember this one being particularly painful, mainly because it’s the ultimate Rankin/Bass Christmas Story. One where Santa, tired of requests for Red Ryder’s Peacemaker, decides to quit. I know, you’re so shocked by this I can hear you gasping now. I mean, what are the odds, right? I mean he only cancels the trip just about every special he shows up in. Now, in some ways, this is a sequel to Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town, which I haven’t reviewed. You ever notice that most the time when I review a sequel I haven’t reviewed the original? I’ve noticed that if I don’t review the original first, it doesn’t get reviewed. Awww! I don’t want to buy the White Album again.

Last year, I bought the Albert Finney Scrooge, which was basically the last of the major Christmas Carol adaptations I didn’t have. Now I hear it’s on blu-ray. And the George C Scott is on blu-ray, as is the Alastair Sim and the Muppet Version and so on, and so on.

This is why I prefer the world of streaming, when it works. I don’t want to buy my holiday collection again. It’s a big collection, just the holiday stuff. Never mind the rest of my collection, just the holiday specials/movies would be a considerable investment. Even at the cheap prices most those videos are going for online. I just don’t want to rebuild my collection a third time. I got the Bond movies on VHS (minus the Moore and Dalton movies) then I got them on DVD, and now I have to buy them on Blu-Ray? I mean, yeah, I’m gonna get the Bond movies on blu-ray because BOND! It’s not even the money, though Syd might argue otherwise, it’s the hassle. Fortunately, they put the Bond Series in one big box… which is on my wishlist (just saying) along with the Indy Blu-ray as well. Only the bluray for Django on my Cheap Cinema list and…

What was I saying?

I don’t remember.
